ARTIST STATEMENT

Picture
Human beings have the gift to visually process and intellectually internalize the world around us. The authentic relationship of the visual and intellectual understanding is an elegant fusion that enables each person to be truly unique. Interaction in life is often taken for granted, yet it is truly a philosophical experience that essentially is a world of fundamental truths. The experience of art itself defines our intellect as individuals and the truths each one of us hold within.

Experiences, moments in time and the philosophy there of, are the foundations to my work. Personally, I prefer to utilize my surroundings. Given that I have lived my life thus far on the eastern shore, most landscapes are native scenes. Life consists of relationships and in comparison art is parallel to this idea. In each piece there stands a dialogue of some kind, between the subject and myself. Once a piece takes on a life of its own, the viewer gets to engage and enjoy a dialogue in their own right with the piece as well.
